New with the team: Juuso Tiihonen

Born and raised in Finland, Juuso enjoyed a high school exchange year in New Zealand, got his bachelor degree in Helsinki (Behavioral Sciences and Adult Education), followed by his master's degree in Göttingen/Germany and Groningen/Netherlands (International and interdisziplinary Social Sciences, with special focus on International HRM). Since 2011, Juuso lives in Germany, adding several years of practical HR management to his CV. He is now part of the chair's team and envisages his PhD on Talent Management.

Domitille is PhD student at the Paris campus with her tutors Maral Muratbekova (Paris) and Marion Festing (Berlin). She works on "Talent Management in Multinational Companies". During her 3-month-stay at the Berlin campus and together with Stephanie Schworm, she will focus on a research project on "Talent Management and career success" Domitille, with her MSc in Management from EM Lyon has previous experiences in Germany: she has studied one semester at the university of Mannheim, followed by several years in HR management jobs in France and in Germany.

Given the demographic changes (aging, fewer and a more diversified workforce), continued global war for talent and new types of employee relationships that present new challenges and obstacles for companies of any size (e.g. “Arbeitswelten 4.0”), talent management has become the #1 priority for executives.

Head of the newly founded Talent Management Institute (TMI) is Dr. Lynn Schäfer, former research assistant at Marion Festing's chair of Human Resource Management and Intercultural Leadership. Her and her team's vision is to support companies in the war for talent by providing state-of-the-art talent management research and creating a distinct community of TM experts for knowledge sharing.

Bernadette Müller und Judith Eidems schließen ihr Promotionsverfahren mit Erfolg ab.

Am 28.5. absolvierten Bernadette Müller und Judith Eidems erfolgreich ihre Disputationen. Bernadette Müller erforschte mit dem Thema „Die Bedeutung von Karrieremanagement im Rahmen der Auslandsentsendung von Führungskräften – vertragstheoretische Analyse und illustrative Fallstudie der Robert Bosch GmbH“ eine Problematik von hoher theoretischer und praktischer Relevanz. Judith Eidems beschäftigte sich in ihrer Dissertation mit dem Thema „Globale Standardisierung und lokale Anpassung im Internationalen Personalmanagement – Eine theoretische und empirische Analyse auf Basis der Dynamic Capabilities Perspektive“. Auch sie leistete damit einen wichtigen Beitrag zur internationalen Personalforschung und leitete wichtige praktische Implikationen ab.
Wir gratulieren Bernadette Müller und Judith Eidems sehr herzlich zu diesem Erfolg.

Jörg Schwitalla ist seit 2006 bei der MAN Group tätig, seit Anfang des Jahres in der Position Senior Vice President Human Resources der MAN Group. Er war vorher über zehn Jahre beim Reifenhersteller Michelin in verschiedenen Personal- und Produktionsfunktionen tätig, hatte anschließend zwei Jahre lang die Position des Senior Vice President Human Resources bei der CompAir/Invensys Gruppe inne und nahm bei dem Automobilzulieferer Valeo verschiedene Personal- und Managementfunktionen ein, zuletzt als Vice President Human Resources in Paris.

In diesen Positionen hat er eine umfangreiche Expertise vor allem in den Bereichen International Human Resource Management, Personal- und Organisationsentwicklung, Restrukturierung und Leadership Themen erworben.

Unsere Veranstaltung bietet Ihnen die Gelegenheit, mehr über die zukunftsweisenden Strategien des Talent Management in der MAN Group zu erfahren und mit Herrn Schwitalla Chancen und Herausforderungen zu diskutieren.

Im Anschluss an die Diskussion laden wir Sie zu einem Umtrunk in den Festsaal unserer Hochschule ein.

Bombardier and ESCP-EAP Europäische Wirtschaftshochschule Berlin sign a cooperation agreement

Mit der Unterzeichnung der Kooperationsurkunde am 28. Oktober 2008 haben die ESCP-EAP Berlin und Bombardier die Weichen für eine weitere erfolgreiche und zukunftsträchtige Zusammenarbeit gestellt. Im Fokus steht die aktive Förderung der Studierenden beispielsweise durch die Ermöglichung von Praktika und gemeinsamen Master- und Diplomarbeiten sowie die Umsetzung gemeinsamer Forschungsvorhaben. Zudem möchte Bombardier sein Talent Management Programm, insbesondere die Förderung der High Potentials durch das Weiterbildungsangebot der ESCP-EAP ergänzen.

Frau Prof. Dr. Marion Festing, Inhaberin des Lehrstuhls für Personalmanagement und Interkulturelle Führung sowie akademische Leiterin des European Executive MBA der ESCP-EAP European School of Management betonte bei der Unterzeichnung, dass Bombardier für die Hochschule ein ausgezeichnetes Partnerunternehmen darstellt, da sich die Interessen Beider in hohem Maße decken: für die Hochschule ist es mit ihrer internationalen Ausrichtung und dem starken Praxisbezug von großer Bedeutung, eng in die Entwicklungen eines Global Player wie Bombardier  einbezogen zu sein. Hierfür sorgen Praxisvorträge, Unternehmensbesuche vor Ort, Praktika und Beratungsprojekte, die die Studierenden der ESCP-EAP bei Bombardier durchführen. Gleichzeitig treffen die Angebote der Führungskräfteweiterbildung der transnationalen Hochschule, das General Management Programm und das European Executive MBA Programm genau den international orientierten Personalentwicklungsbedarf von Bombardier. Frau Prof. Dr. Festing erklärte weiter: „Die Unterzeichnung dieser Kooperationserklärung ist eigentlich nur eine logische Konsequenz der bereits seit vielen Jahren intensiven und erfolgreichen Zusammenarbeit zwischen Bombardier und der ESCP-EAP Berlin.“

Dies betonte auch Herr Stefan Schönholz, Arbeitsdirektor von Bombardier Transportation in Deutschland. Er brachte zum Ausdruck, dass es sich bei der Kooperation um eine Win-Win-Situation handelt, bei der beide Parteien profitieren. Schönholz weiter: „Ich freue mich in besonderem Maße über die nun noch engere Kooperation mit der ESCP-EAP, da unser Unternehmen so zur praxisorientierten Ausbildung des künftigen Führungsnachwuchses selbst beitragen kann und natürlich in der Rekrutierung, aber auch in der späteren Weiterqualifizierung der Manager von dem Angebot der ESCP-EAP profitiert. Die Multi-Campus-Struktur der Hochschule deckt nicht nur den Bedarf am Standort Berlin, sondern auch europaweit.“

Schon jetzt sind die ersten gemeinsamen Aktivitäten fest vereinbart. So wird Bombardier beispielsweise an den „Recruiting-Days“ der ESCP-EAP Berlin teilnehmen, Teilnehmer in ein Führungskräfteweiterbildungsprogramm mit Osteuropafokus entsenden und eine Besichtigung der Eisenbahnproduktion für die Studierenden des Seminars zum Internationalen Personalmanagement ermöglichen.

Prof. Dr. Marion Festing elected Research Dean at ESCP-EAP

In der letzten Woche fand an allen Standorten der ESCP-EAP (Paris, London, Berlin, Turin, Madrid) die Wahl des Forschungsdekans statt. Bereits im ersten Wahlgang konnte sich Frau Prof. Dr. Marion Festing vom Berliner Campus mit einer Zweidrittelmehrheit aller wahlberechtigten ca. 120 Professoren und Professorinnen durchsetzen.

Damit wurde erstmalig nach der Fusion der beiden Hochschulen ESCP und EAP eine so wichtige Funktion am Berliner Standort angesiedelt.

„Dies ist ein klares Zeichen dafür, dass sich die in den Programmen bereits vollzogene Europäisierung nun auch in den Gremien der Hochschule verstärkt widerspiegelt und sicher zur Entwicklung noch besserer europäischer Lösungen führen wird. Für mich ist es eine große Freude, hieran mitwirken zu können“ sagte Marion Festing nach ihrer Wahl.

Die Aufgabe einer Europäischen Forschungsdekanin besteht darin, hochschulinterne Strategien und Strukturen zu schaffen, die eine hohe Forschungsintensität der Hochschullehrer und –lehrerinnen ermöglicht und die Qualität der Forschungsergebnisse positiv beeinflusst. An der ESCP-EAP wird ein wichtiges Augenmerk auch auf der weiteren Verstärkung der Zusammenarbeit der Professorenschaft an den verschiedenen Standorten der Hochschule liegen. Wichtig ist im Ergebnis selbstverständlich die Anerkennung im internationalen Kontext. Laut Prof. Dr. Marion Festing ist hiermit jedoch nicht allein der Erfolg in angelsächsischen Journals gemeint, sondern es geht auch darum, sich in der Wissenschaftslandschaft derjenigen Länder noch besser zu positionieren, in denen die Hochschule mit eigenen Standorten vertreten ist. Somit ist auch eine europäische Vielfalt in der Forschung explizit gewünscht. Hieran möchte sie ab sofort bis zum Auslaufen des Mandates Mitte 2010 intensiv arbeiten.

Marion Festing ist seit 2002 Professorin für Personalmanagement und Interkulturelle Führung an der ESCP-EAP Europäische Wirtschaftshochschule Berlin und lehnte in dieser Zeit Rufe an die Universitäten Gießen und Düsseldorf ab. Sie studierte Betriebswirtschaftlehre an der Universität Paderborn und an der Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Toulouse/Frankreich. Es folgten Promotion und Habilitation an der Universität Paderborn sowie verschiedene von DAAD- und DFG-Stipendien geförderte Forschungsaufenthalte in Australien und an verschiedenen US-amerikanischen Universitäten. Der Forschungsschwerpunkt von Frau Festing liegt im Internationalen Personalmanagement. Hierzu veröffentlichte sie 2008 gemeinsam mit einem trikontinentalen Autorenteam die 5. Auflage des Lehrbuches International Human Resource Management (London: Thomson) und initiierte eine Schriftenreihe zur Internationalen Personal- und Strategieforschung. Sie ist in verschiedenen Herausgeberbeiräten nationaler und internationaler Zeitschriften aktiv und hat mehr als 50 Aufsätze in verschiedenen Sprachen vorgelegt. Seit diesem Jahr wirkt sie als German Ambassador der Human Resources Division der Academy of Management, der weltweit wichtigsten Vereinigung von betriebswirtschaftlichen Hochschullehrern, auch an der Internationalisierung dieser Organisation mit.
