Health insurance

Medical coverage is mandatory in France.

For students who are under 28 years old:

  • Non European Union students staying at ESCP Europe for less than 3 months (90 days) who do not benefit from a temporary residence permit can choose to register for medical insurance in their home country.

  • Non European Union exchange students staying at ESCP Europe for 3 months (90 days) or more, must register with French Student Social Security.

  • EU nationals can benefit from the French Social Security by providing their European health insurance card, which they must obtain from their Social Security before leaving their home country. They will be required to show a copy of this form upon arrival.

Students who are over 28 years old and stay 3 months or more must subscribe a private insurance, once they are in Paris.

French Student Social Security covers sickness, hospital and accidents costs and reimburses 70% of such expenses (dental and optical care is minimally covered).

Cost of Student Social Security 2016/2017: 215€

If you want to have a better cover, you can subscribe to additional insurance, called "mutuelle". It is highly recommended to subscribe to additional insurance to cover the total cost of your medical expenses (100 % reimbursement of medical costs, coverage of dental and optical costs as well as third party liability insurance "responsabilité civile".)
