Specialized Master in Management of People and Organisations

Individual Coaching by BPI Consultants

A successful start to a career depends greatly on how we combine who we are with what we want. In order to help our students deal with the difficult moments in choosing internships and their first job, each student benefits from valuable personalised advice provided by one of the experts from BPI, a consulting firm specialized in career development. This help is all the more valuable as our graduates are faced with a wide range of career possibilities: to become an expert in career development, recruitment or compensation, a specialist in social relations, organisational development or training… They can equally opt for strategic or management consulting.

Specialized Master in Management of People and Organisations

This programme offers the opportunity to obtain a Dual Degree with Cornell University, one of the 8 Ivy League American Universities

"Established in 1987, the Specialized Master’s in Management of People and Organisations quickly became a benchmark among the various human resource management programmes. Our alumni occupy positions of major importance in companies and consulting firms. If the spirit of the programme has remained true to its origins, the program’s content has evolved in order to embrace and keep pace with economic and social changes. Today’s business has little in common with yesterday’s…

A particular vision of professionalism: an alliance between expertise and openness
Genuine professionalism is built on a true understanding of the reality of the business world. For us, professionalism entails both expertise and openness: expertise in business and openness to political, cultural and social contexts. The reason this programme is called a master’s in the management human resources and organisations is because it aims to train professionals who incorporate strategic orientations, organisational demands and the intelligence of human issues into all their actions. Expertise does not work in isolation.

High intellectual standards allied with a professional culture
Recognised by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles (the French association of top business and engineering schools), a Specialized Master’s (bac+6) should combine real integration into  professional culture with a high standard of intellectual rigour. Consequently, our students are continually brought face to face with the most recent developments in different fields of knowledge and with the concerns of professionals, their issues and practices. This interaction between knowledge and practice has led us to develop an original teaching structure where courses – mainly taught by lecturers from the best universities – are complemented by numerous themed workshops, presentations of real business experience and talks, all given by professionals. Similarly, throughout the duration of the programme, meetings are arranged with managers and practitioners from companies and consulting firms in order to place theoretical knowledge side by side with practical know-how.

A managerial, political and strategic orientation
ESCP Europe is a management school. Therefore this programme naturally emphasises a managerial vision.
Off course this vision is also enriched by that of the jurist pointing out legal requirements and constraints, by that of the psychologist attentive to employees’ expectations, by that of the sociologist sensitive to power relations and cultural phenomena and so on.

Under the pretext that the programme’s aim is professional, its content could be confined to a running description and commentary of an inventory of management tools. While managerial techniques obviously cannot be ignored, their use must be placed within a political and strategic perspective. Our teaching is aimed at the virtues of a lucid and intelligent reading of each situation. Thus every student is prepared for the tricky art of analysis without which any form of professionalism is worthless."
