Curriculum

Professional thesis

The thesis is an applied research project in consultation with an academic advisor based on a professionally-oriented topic.

It is a chance for the student to synthesise learned material through analysis of a particular corporate issue by using clear, detailed argumentation. The thesis marks the culmination of the degree and is orally presented to a committee at the end of the programme. It represents 30 of the total of 75 ECTS credits earned over the year.

Working under the supervision of a research director (an ESCP Europe or Ca’ Foscari professor), students begin the process of choosing a thesis topic in October and complete it with a public viva defence in November of the following year.

This assignment is essential in a post-graduate level academic programme. The best theses will be published in “ESCP Europe Working Papers” and in publications of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.

The thesis should include the following sections:

  • General statement of the issue
  • A summary of the project’s process
  • Analysis of key points
  • Methodological review and conclusion
  • Personal review of the programme: personal and professional benefits, and if relevant, the circumstances for practical application of knowledge gained.
