Executive Education: Customised programmes for companies

Barilla: the Advanced Management Programme to make the difference

One of the key factors in the success of ESCP Europe is the constant collaboration with the most important national and international companies.

The consolidated and long-standing cooperation with Barilla is a great example. In May 2016 starts the 5th edition of the Advanced Management Programme for Barilla Managers in partnership with the ESCP Europe Turin Campus.

After the success of the previous editions and steps forward, today the Barilla Advanced Management Programme maintains its soul, while changing its perspectives.
With its one-week programme formula, aims to boost intuition in 6 different core areas: strategy execution, effective leadership, finance, supply chain management, marketing, sales and innovation.

By embracing Barilla’s new challenges and its strategic plan for the next few years the Programme, that ESCP Europe Business School has re-designed with Barilla HR Experts, embodies the company’s strategic direction and key priorities.

We have asked a few questions regarding this topic to Filippo Romanini, Barilla’s Learning & Development Director.

Why has Barilla chosen ESCP Europe?

F.R.: “We believe ESCP Europe has the perfect mix for us: they are very good listeners and help us imagine and design the best format plus they have an excellent international faculty to deliver the highest-rated programme. After having scouted through the world’s most important business schools, we selected ESCP Europe as the ideal partner to design and deliver an international programme for Barilla’s high-potential middle managers. The Barilla Advanced Management Programme embodies the company’s strategic direction and key priorities”.

Why does Barilla want this programme for its Managers?

F.R.: “In 2011, Barilla’s strategy required a clear focus on internationalisation and value initiatives, as key drivers of growth. As L&D we identified the need to develop new profiles and adapt to driving the change through a full understanding of company and business complexity. The Advanced Management Programme is still considered to be the best tool to help people climb the career ladder and prepare them to take on more responsibilities in cross-functional positions

The Barilla Advanced Management Programme was launched in 2011, involving Senior managers representing different functional areas (Finance, Marketing, Innovation, Supply Chain, etc.) and all the countries of the Group, with the macro-idea of widening people’s horizons on the entire business model of the company and stimulating business acumen. How has the programme changed over the years?

F.R.: “Every year with ESCP Europe’s staff we carry out a re-adaptation and re-design of the Advanced Management Programme to allow for changes within the company and meet participants’ needs and expectations. For this reason each edition of the Advanced Management Programme is different in terms of contents, professors and key targets, but with the same successful hands-on approach based on case study methodology. It will be a concrete opportunity for growth”.
