"One of the major challenges and hopes"

"BNP Paribas CIB considers the question of research and training in the field of innovation and transformation of the banking economy as one of the major challenges and hopes, through this Chair, to contribute to progress in this area. This project is particularly interesting because it follows our steps towards innovation and responsible banking by promoting interactions between the business world and the academic world."

ESCP Europe / BNP Paribas Chair
Financial Innovation and Transformation

The common goal of BNP Paribas CIB and ESCP Europe is to create a reference point for research in the field of responsible innovation and transformation in the financial sectors: managerial innovation, open innovation and responsible innovation will be at the heart of the works.

Creation: how did this Chair appear?

BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) and ESCP Europe, in partnership with the Institute for Innovation and Competitiveness i7 and ESCP Europe Foundation, created the International Teaching and Research Chair "Financial Innovation and Transformation" on 5 June 2013, with Professor Franck Bancel as Academic Director.

.

The meaning of our partnership with BNP Paribas

Innovation is a key element of the BNP Paribas CIB economic model and of its adaptation to a changing environment, in order to continue to serve its customers better.

.

What is the objective of this Chair?

Major changes in the world of finance motivate innovation and the development of increasingly responsible finance. ESCP Europe wanted to take an active part in the research on this theme of general interest.

The common goal of BNP Paribas CIB and ESCP Europe is to create a reference point for research in the field of responsible innovation and transformation in the financial sectors, and provide a place to meet and exchange with teachers and students on the five ESCP Europe campuses - Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid and Turin.

.

What areas of research?

Several research themes are being developed within the Chair, which relate in particular to managerial innovation, open innovation and responsible innovation.

The "Financial Innovation and Transformation" Chair’s main objectives are to:
organise reflection, research and training of international dimension around the banking and financial economies
• summarise the challenges and practices of the banking economy and make them accessible to practitioners and policy makers, through the publication of works, events, etc..
• create opportunities for joint research and training in the general public interest

The management of innovation, focusing on how to stimulate innovation within BNPP CIB will also be at the heart of research areas.
Thus, ESCP Europe and i7 have become partners of the bank’s innovation awards.
