i7, the Institute for Innovation and Competitiveness

With a strong academic anchorage and in close relation to companies, i7 Institute contributes to enhance creation, dissemination and exchange of innovation knowledge between three types of actors - academics, firms and public policy makers - to stimulate the innovative capacity and competitiveness of European companies and economies.

Its main activities are:

• carrying out thematic work on topics to be defined with the project participants (for example: open innovation, co-creation, role of design and creativity, emergence of new business models, influence of patents and intellectual property…);
  
  
• courses and academic programmes about innovation on the five ESCP Europe campuses;
  
  
• exchanges with public policy makers to analyze and influence public policies in terms of innovation at a national and European level;
  
  
• organizing meetings and exchanges between 3 types of actors - academics, firms and public policy makers – to become an open place for producing and broadcasting innovation and competitiveness knowledge.

The Institute for Innovation and Competitiveness owes its creation to the report Morand Manceau "For a new vision of Innovation", ordered by French Ministry of Economy Christine Lagarde in 2009. This collective work by ESCP Europe Faculty and based on testimonies of business leaders and experts is the witness of ESCP Europe expertise on this strategic issue.
