The Gala is the highlight of ESCP Europe's social calendar, gathering together alumni, students, corporate partners and staff for a celebration of the School's history and achievements. This year's event took place in the ballroom of Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott hotel.
The evening began with a champagne reception, swiftly followed by the call to dinner and a welcome address by the evening's Master of Ceremonies, Prof. Ben Voyer and ESCP Europe's departing UK Director, Prof. Patrick Gougeon. Alumnus Laurent Feniou, Managing Director of Cartier UK and member of the Board of Trustees of the London campus, talked about the School’s 40,000 strong alumni and encouraged people to join ESCP Europe’s Alumni Association. Shireen Fraser, Head of PR - UK, thanked the Gala sponsors: UKTI, Eurostar, Zaoui and Bouygues, as well as those who donated raffle prizes and gifts for the goody bags, for their generosity.
We were also delighted to welcome Prof. Edouard Husson, Dean of ESCP Europe, who delivered a special address. He thanked the Trustees of the School, chaired by Tony Travis, and also acknowledged the great work achieved by Prof. Patrick Gougeon, including making it to the shortist as Business School of the Year in the Times Higher Education Awards 2013.
After a delicious three-course dinner, Shireen Fraser presented the charity prize draw, with winning tickets selected by Eurostar's Camille Chevalier, Bicester Village's Sylvie Freund Pickavance and Cartier's Laurent Feniou. The high-end gifts included 20 Eursotar tickets to celebrate 20 years of operations, Perfumes from Cartier, Champagne breakfast for 6 plus gift vouchers for Bicester Village, cookery class for two from L'Atelier des Chefs, Gift Coffret from Kusmi Tea and an ESCP Europe laptop backpack.
ESCP Europe strives to attract the best students, regardless of their financial background. As such, the School offers a selection of financial need and merit-based scholarships. Around 400 are awarded each year, representing a total of €1,500,000. All money raised from the sale of tickets for the prize draw (more than £1,200) was donated to both this fund, contributing to the School's commitment to helping students who would not otherwise be able to study with us, and to support this summer's MSc in Marketing & Creativity Marketing For Change charity trip to Uganda.
Continuing this tradition, the ESCP Europe Gala band included:
Goody bags on departure were branded by UKTI for its Britain is Great campaign and included a box of Kusmi Tea, a pot of Maison Maille speciality mustard, clotted cream fudge from St Kew, a discount voucher from L’Atelier des Chefs and an ESCP Europe Oyster card holder.
If you attended this year's Gala, we hope you had a wonderful time. Many thanks to the team who worked so hard to make this an event to remember, and our very generous partners and sponsors for their support.
