The Gala is the highlight of ESCP Europe's social calendar, gathering together alumni, students, corporate partners and staff for a celebration of the School's history and achievements. With 2013 seeing the 40th anniversary of our UK campus, this year's event was the best yet!
The Gala took place on 15th March, 2013 in the 1930s Art Deco Ballroom of the Grosvenor House Hotel. With a distinguished, glamorous, and aristocratic pedigree stretching back nearly 350 years, this was the perfect venue to celebrate the establishment of ESCP Europe - the World's First Business School (est. 1819) - as the first business school to go multi-campus outside of its founding country.
The evening began with a drinks reception, swiftly followed by the call to dinner and a welcome address by Professor Patrick Gougeon, Director of the London campus, and ESCP Europe Dean Professor Edouard Husson. We were also delighted to welcome Bernard Emie, Ambassador of France to the United Kingdom, who also delivered a special address.
After a delicious three-course dinner, there was a charity prize draw which featured high end gifts from our friends at Eurostar, Oundle Bespoke Apartments, Cartier, Bicester Village, the Grosvenor Hotel, Estée Lauder, Château de l'Hestrange and Basilico Pizza. All proceeds raised from the draw went to Marketing For Change, a student organisation founded to support the yearly charity trip our MSc in Marketing & Creativity students make to Uganda. As a part of the Raising the Pyramid module, this venture offers students the chance to create value in an ethical and sustainable way by sharing their marketing competences and entrepreneurial skills with a community under development. In total, £1,600 was raised.
The Gala celebrates not only the achievements of ESCP Europe as a whole, but also those of its talented students. Continuing this tradition, members of the student body took to the stage to provide musical accompaniment to the meal and the party which followed. CoMu, the Music Association of ESCP Europe's students, did the honours yet again, spotlighting the talents of: Clara Gold (Piano), Adrien Lin (Bass), Alan Snrech (Drums), Sylvian Chevalier (Guitar), Anne-Claire Michel, Andréa Ankri-Avy, Soraya Filali-Serraj, Timothée Jochum, Samuel Karson, Matthieu Pichon, Maeva Renaud, Kaycie Teitscheid and Marton Szabo (Drums).
We hope all who attended enjoyed celebrating the UK campus' 40th anniversary!
