ESCP Europe launches new Master programme for those spearheading the digital revolution in manufacturing

ESCP Europe Business School has launched the Executive Master in Manufacturing Automation and Digital Transformation (EMMA) in collaboration with Italian manufacturing company Comau.

The programme, for managers who want to innovate within their businesses as the digital revolution in manufacturing gathers pace, has been developed in response to a fast-changing marketplace characterised by the drive towards 'industry 4.0'.

Classes will be delivered in English by senior managers from Comau and ESCP Europe faculty, with additional teaching provided by visiting professors from top European universities such as Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano and Technische Universität München.

Teaching will take place at ESCP Europe campus locations in Italy, Great Britain, France and Germany, with modules also held in selected Comau Academies. Theory will be combined with practical sessions, including a working-project path enabling participants to gain field experience in a real-world manufacturing environment.

Participants will develop the cutting-edge managerial and technical skills needed to thrive in the 'smart factory' of the future, including:

  • Identifying new opportunities presented by digital manufacturing
  • How to drive strategic change management in the 4.0 environment
  • The management of new products and processes in automation
  • Building knowledge of efficient production systems and financial planning techniques
  • Understanding different production systems and the human-machine interaction
  • Managing a complex portfolio of supplies and suppliers
  • Team leadership in the management of human resources

The course includes 260 hours of classroom training and 80 hours of e-learning. Classes, which will be held from March 2017 to January 2018, are organised in four different teaching modules: Factory of the Future, Product & Process Innovation, Automation & Digital Manufacturing Design and Development and Automation & Digital Manufacturing Management.

Prof. Giovanni Scarso-Borioli, Academic Director at ESCP Europe London Campus says: "In a world where the CEOs of some of the largest global organisations are technology gurus themselves, there is increasing market demand for managers to develop technological know-how, as well engineers growing their management and leadership skills. This is why we have created the Executive Master in Manufacturing Automation and Digital Transformation in partnership with Comau, which embraces our School's vision.

"ESCP Europe Business School believes in the power of constant transformation and advancements. Advances in digital technology are exponentially increasing opportunities for innovation."

Donatella Pinto, Head of HR of Comau adds: "The start of this new programme is concrete proof of how Comau, through its Academy and international partnership network, is always at the forefront of highly specialised training activities that are able to respond and to anticipate new trends and market requirements in the industrial sector.

"This new training path also confirms our commitment to creating new competencies, not only for young future managers of the industry of tomorrow, but also for a range of professionals with business backgrounds who wish to broaden and strengthen their skills in the digital environment, thanks to the well-established and recognised expertise of Comau Academy."
