Houdou Basse Mama is an Assistant Professor of Finance at ESCP Europe Campus Berlin where he holds the Chair in International Financial Markets. His teaching interests include international finance, financial markets, asset pricing, empirical (corporate) finance and entrepreneurial finance.
Prior to joining ESCP Europe in February 2013, he held a postdoctoral position at the University of Hamburg where he earned a Master in international Business Administration and a PhD in finance. He also holds an M.A. in Accounting and Finance (Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar) as well as an M.A. in Applied Foreign Languages (from the Université Cheikh Anta Diop and AUPELF-UREF Montréal). Concomitantly to his former position at the University of Hamburg, he has been a visiting lecturer of finance with the State University of Finance & Economics in St. Petersburg (since 2009) and the Bordeaux Business School (since 2011). Houdou Basse Mama eventually spent three years as financial controller with SIEMENS AG in Senegal.
His current research interests mainly center on the interactions between capital markets and firm behavior, managerial implicit incentives and firm outcomes, capital market microstructure as well as the economics of intellectual property rights. He has recently had articles published in Applied Economics, Journal of Business Economics and Journal für Betriebswirtschaft.
