Biography

Isaac Getz is a professor of Idea, Involvement, and Innovation Management at ESCP Europe. He has been Visiting Professor at Cornell University, Stanford University and at the University of Massachusetts. He graduated in Computer Science, then obtained a M.Sc. in Management Science, a Doctorate in Psychology and a post-doctoral degree (HDR) in Management.
Dr. Getz conducts research and publishes on diverse topics related to innovation, management, corporate excellence, vision, and growth.
He is an active speaker on the topics of idea and innovation management, employee initiative and involvement, and corporate excellence and change. He has given executive conferences and training seminars for numerous companies and organizations. His work on idea management and excellence has brought him into over one hundred leading companies in France and around the world.
In 2003, Dr. Getz co-authored with Alan Robinson a book entitled InnovationsPOWER in German (also published in French, Dutch--new editions in 2007,Italian and Spanish) which details the key role of idea management in improving corporate financial performance, innovation, and profitable growth. It was one of the 3 finalists for the annual Manpower Best Book Award in France. A book, Freedom, Inc., co-authored with Brian Carney, was published with Crown Business in October 2009.

Freedom Form Organizations are so successful and so unusual that to the thousands of people who visit them, these companies look like the realization of a utopia. They rise from disheartening beginnings or decades of bureaucratic stifling to unheard levels of success. Yet despite phenomenal business results of initiative-freeing organizational environments in such companies as FAVI in France, SOL in Finland, or Gore in USA, attempts to imitate them often fail.
In this book, Isaac Getz and Brian Carney described the keys to the transformational leadership required to build such "Freedom Incs" - how the liberating leaders set their employees free to achieve the unprecedented results, and how their lessons can be applied to firms in every industry, of any size, anywhere in the world.
Presenting the results of research involving several dozen companies and their leaders, the authors showed that, though radical, such initiative-freeing environments can and do succeed when leaders adopt a radically transformational, liberating style of leadership.
