Patrice Laroche is a Professor of Human Resource Studies and Labor Relations at ESCP Europe Paris campus. He has been a Visiting Professor at Monash University (2013), Cornell University (Industrial and Labor Relations School, 2011, 2012), UC Berkeley (2010, 2012) and at London School of Economics and Political Science (Centre for Economic Performance, 2006). His research activity is mainly devoted to the study of industrial and labor relations with particular emphasis on the analysis of the impact of unions on firm performance. He is particularly interested in understanding how a number of factors such as the nature of the union, the industrial relations climate, the level and intensity of the union involvement, the type of organization and other managerial activities influence the relationship between unions and firm performance. His articles have appeared in Industrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society, European Journal of Industrial Relations, Journal of Labor Research, Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations, Relations Industrielles/Industrial Relations, among others. He has also published several books (Les relations sociales en entreprise, Gérer les relations avec les partenaires sociaux) and chapters in edited books. Patrice Laroche earned a PhD in Human Resource Management from Université Nancy 2 in 2002 (Best PhD Dissertation Award, FNEGE 2003) and an “Accreditation to Supervise Research” (HDR) from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2006. He is a member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) since 2008. Patrice Laroche is also a member and former director of the CEREFIGE (Centre Européen de Recherche en Economie Financière et Gestion des Entreprises) and a board member of the AGRH (Association francophone de Gestion des Ressources Humaines).
