Modernizing public sector management: lessons learned from 20 years of reforms and change:
After more than 20 years of reforms designed to modernize French public sector management, what are the lessons learned? Gérard Naulleau investigates the success factors of the implementation of new management practices in the public sector, with a focus on the use of performance indicators, as promoted by the new budgetary procedure (LOLF). In 2003 he published an article on this topic in the academic review Politique et Management Public. He is currently working on a paper which formalizes the key success factors of performance reviews which have been launched in several French ministries.

Perspectives of Public Private Partnerships for infrastructure financing in emerging countries:
Are Public Private Partnerships (PPP) a viable option for financing infrastructures in emerging countries? A country like India has already experienced some large PPP based financing for infrastructures, with mixed results so far. In an ongoing research paper, Gérard Naulleau investigates the problems and issues foreign companies are facing for PPP financing schemes in emerging countries.

Collaborative strategies for leveraging client / supplier relationships:

Vertical collaborations - client/supplier partnerships - are increasingly used by companies to improve their value chain based strategies. In 2003 Gérard Naulleau published a book dedicated to the study of the collaborative engineering process created between Mercedes Car Group and key suppliers to launch the first Smart vehicle and the Smart brand. From this research, an academic article was also published in Gérer et Comprendre. More recently, Professor Naulleau has been facilitating the implementation of a collaborative approach to cost reduction in the supply chain of a major French retail Group.
