Current research
European investment in Latin America
European investment in Latin America is an old phenomenon which increased significantly, nonetheless, in the 1990s. The research is concerned with the determining factors of this investment such as the attractiveness of the host economies, the sector of activity, the evolution of politic and economic environment, etc. The influence of cultural factors and the limits of cultural tropism are taken into consideration, as are the diverse effects generated by FDI in the local economies: management changes, adaptation to fiscal and legal constraints, impacts on production, changes in distribution channels and consumer behaviour…
Inter-enterprise cooperation
Inter-enterprise cooperation constitutes a substantial aspect of international cooperation because it is a powerful link between two countries or two regions. When dealing more specifically with SMEs, inter-enterprise cooperation needs reinforcement from ad hoc programs conceived to promote their international development. Which is the role of the “mesostructures”, which are the dynamics generated by these tools?
Multi actors cooperation
International cooperation relies, more and more, on multi actors dynamics which bring up the question of strategic coherence between the expectations of the different parties involved: administration, go-between institutions, private operators … From the silent partners to the final beneficiaries it is a global process that must be of interest to everyone.
Bilateral and multilateral relations in the international arena
International relations are no longer governed by state monopolies: programs and policies are also conceived at a supranational level. This is particularly the case in the context of the EU. However, regarding international cooperation, European states claim the right to implement national policies with non member countries: therein the necessity for coherence between the bilateral and multilateral levels and between the states themselves to insure clarity and effectiveness. An example of this would be French and Spanish policies in Latin America.
Management of cultural projects: international exhibitions
International exhibitions could be considered enormous venues for communication where the participants (states, international organisations, enterprises …) show their best side, given the constraints of time and space. In many ways, they are similar to international projects operations.
