Javier Tafur is Associate Professor in the Strategy, Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Department and Director of the ESCP Europe Madrid Campus. He became an ESCP Europe faculty member in 2009, when a double degree with the Technical University of Madrid (UPM, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) was launched on the Madrid Campus, and in charge of the Master in International Project Management. In Sep 2014 he joined the School as Managing Director of the ESCP Europe Madrid campus where he is also teaching Strategy and Competitive Intelligence at ESCP Europe graduate and executive programs.
He holds a BSc, MSc Industrial Engineering from UPM (former six a.y Diploma of “Ingeniero Industrial”), a MBA from IE Business School, a PhD in the field of Innovation Management from UPM, and a Spanish accreditation to supervise doctoral research. He is Adjunct Professor at Southern Cross University (SCU, Queensland, Australia) where he was also researching at CTLW.
As a practitioner, his experience in Engineering and Consulting has been for more than 10 years in Public Sector, International organizations and Multinational Companies (Dragados, Daimler-Benz, Deutsche Telekom). He was Managing Director and CEO of the Spanish subsidiary at Detecon International GmbH (DTAG) before joining the Academia in 2005. As a Professor, he joined the Department of Industrial Engineering and Business Administration at UPM where he was also teaching and researching for major Spanish and European companies and public institutions.
He has a strong interest in Executive Education and his Research focus is mainly on technology innovative activities and advanced business services as a part of the innovation strategies, like for instance, Information and Communication Technologies in distance education, e-Learning & b-Learning.
