Description

The career development programme for women in and on their way to leadership position.

 

The Seminar “Women in Leadership” aims to empower women in business. Besides having the required hard skills and know-how also self-awareness, confidence and a powerful network are crucial to succeed as a leader.

 

That is why the 4-day-seminar focuses on topics such as negotiation, networking, power and influence and improvisation, all with regard to women acting in a male-dominated working environment. The programme is highly interactive and includes case studies, videos and group reflection. Experiential exercises as well as individual filmed presentations and negotiation situations will give you the opportunity to practice your improvisation, leadership, communication and negotiation skills and to get valuable feedback. An entire day will be spent in small groups with a professional coach.

 

In order to be successful leaders, women need to understand how to survive in a “man´s world”. Thus, the training gives a comprehending of implicit masculine business models and codes leading to gender gap, male-oriented performance models, work design, gender discrimination and male loyalty.  

 

With this knowledge and tools, your enhanced skills and strengthened by the feedback and coaching, you will be best prepared to succeed as a leader and to take the next career step.

The programme is taught in English and designed for women in leadership positions and those who are planning to assume managerial responsibility in their next career step.

 

The seminar is created for participants from all over the world and from diverse backgrounds: leaders or future leaders from different departments of companies and other organisations as well as business owners and entrepreneurs from all industries.

 

 

Direction Scientifique

The programme is developed and taught by experienced professors from ESCP Europe, some parts will be accompanied by professional coachs.

 

Prof. Dr. Katharina Balazs

Katharina Balazs is Professor of Leadership in the Strategy, HR & Organization Department at ESCP Europe, Paris campus, as well as Executive Coach. In her executive development and coaching work she specialises in woman leadership trainings, executives and board dynamics, and works with both teams and individuals. 

 

Prof. Dr. Marion Festing

Marion Festing is Professor of Human Resource Management and Intercultural Leadership and was Rector of the Berlin Campus from 2012 to March 2017. Her research and teaching focus is international HR, intercultural leadership and gender in management.

 

Prof. Dr. Véronique Tran

Veronique Tran is Professor of Organisational Behaviour at ESCP Europe, Paris campus. She teaches in executive education with an emphasis on topics such as personality, teams, decision-making, leadership, and emotional competence. She is a certified trainer for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), as well as 360° feedback.

Introduction: By raising your awareness of gender differences in a male-dominated working environment, you will be able to argue in a convincing way why it is important to have female leaders and diverse working teams.

 

Understand the dynamics of power and influence and learn how to use them to enhance both career opportunities and organisational effectiveness.

 

How leaders create and use networks: we will be looking at your existing networks of professional relationships and strategies to improve them.

 

An Improvisation Dinner will help you to react spontaneously and creatively in uncertain situations and thereby foster your self-confidence and self-awareness.

 

Building leadership presence and impact: Gain awareness of the way others see you and understand what you project to others in terms of leadership presence. Identify your strong points and those you wish to work on.

 

Experience and master negotiation situations and test different ways to obtain what you want in a safe environment, including video sessions.

 

To prepare properly for an increase in self-awareness as well as awareness of others, we will determine personal preferences in information processing and decision-making using the MBTI, a test widely used in management development, team building and leadership.

 

One day of group coaching in small groups with a professional coach: The session will provide an opportunity for self-reflection and a deeper understanding of your feedback with the benefit of different perspectives through additional input from the group.
