AlphaSights challenged higher education students from across Europe to complete a real-life project: taking on the role of the firm’s client service team, working alongside a range of top global strategy consultants with a detailed, but time-sensitive project brief and high expectations of top quality results.
“Four European teams were shortlisted for the Grand Final, which took place at AlphaSights' Global HQ last week. They were put through their paces by a panel of senior managers, who quizzed them on their projects. The final competition was followed by a celebratory dinner at Gordon Ramsey's Union St Cafe, where the winners were announced.” AlphaSights on Facebook
The four shortlisted teams came from the University of Oxford, the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and ESCP Europe, represented by two teams from the Master in Management and the Master in European Business, based at the business school’s London campus.
The winning team members were Thibault L’Huby, Julien Montagné, Ankita Uppal and Xinran Yi (Project Manager), all studying on the Master in Management Programme.

Project Manager, Xinran Yi said “The case was a about a pharmaceuticals company who had trouble marketing their product, and our job was to draft the strategic solutions for their problem, and find the right expertise to help them.
We had gone through 2 rounds: in the first round, we were given 10 days to submit our report. AlphaSights then shortlisted 4 finalists, who were given another 10 days to improve their work. The final presentation took place in the AlphaSights London headquarters where we met the other 3 teams: another team from ESCP Europe on the Master in European Business programme, a team from Oxford, and a team from WU. We presented our work in front of 4 senior managers.”
ESCP Europe’s UK Director, Dr Simon Mercado said “We are very proud to have two teams from our business school’s London campus in the final of such a tough, challenging competition. I’d like to congratulate members of both teams for this great achievement.”
