Between 1999 and 2008, Bournois was an affiliate professor at ESCP Europe and the scientific Director of the Chair of Corporate Governance. He was also Head of the Department of Defence Studies at IHEDN (the French National institute for Defense Studies).
Since 2008, Frank Bournois has developed scientific and consulting activities with major industry players with regards to the detection and training of their future managers. He was chairman of the National Committee for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Business Schools (2010-2013), reporting to the Ministers of Higher Education and Industry. He is a member of the Advisory Boards of Institut Montaigne, of Cercle Turgot, and of Cercle de l’entreprise.
Frank Bournois graduated from the Business School of EM Lyon (France), holds a MBA-in Organisational Psychology from Aston University (UK), and a PhD from University of Lyon III (France). More than 60 doctoral or post-doctoral dissertations were presented under his supervision as a research director. He is the author or co-author of many management handbooks and publications in French and International scientific journals.
The appointment of Frank Bournois as Dean of ESCP Europe resulted from a rigorous selection process comprising two phases, as supervised by a consultative committee of eight members: Patrick Gounelle, Chairman of the Board and of the Foundation, ESCP Europe; Etienne Guyot, CEO, CCI Paris Ile de France; Laurent Sachs, Deputy Chairman of ESCP Europe Alumni; Eric Cornuel, Director General and CEO, EFMD; Frédérique Alexandre-Bailly, ESCP Europe Faculty Dean; Luca Visconti, professor, ESCP Europe; Laurent Choain, Chief RH Officer; and Mazars et Xavier Cornu, Executive Director General, Research and Training Division, CCI Paris Ile de France.
The first phase considered the numerous applications, both internal and external, while the second focused on four short-listed candidates. The five ESCP Europe campus Directors in Paris,London, Berlin, Madrid and Torino were also consulted. The consultative committee met the four final candidates on 15th July and proposed the selection of Frank Bournois to the campus Directors and General Director of the CCI Paris Ile de France.

Reinforcing ESCP Europe's European identity, developing digital and pedagogical innovation, and the launch of a highly selective Bachelor programme are the priority missions of the new Dean, alongside the staff and faculty of the five European campuses.
