The KPMG / ESCP Europe 2014 award of Best research paper

The KPMG / ESCP Europe 2014 award of Best research paper is attributed to Heinrich Moritz Schulze for his thesis entitled "Some make it, Some break it: Towards an integrated theory of conflict management in family firms", directed by Professor Jacqueline Fendt.

Abstract of Heinrich-Moritz Schulze paper:
This thesis presents an integrated theory of conflict management in family businesses and seeks to show why some of them suffer from the conflict while others seem to take advantage. The integrated theory is based on three areas of research. The first presents a typology of conflicts, the second presents the factors of influence of a conflict while the third looks at how family businesses manage conflicts. The research method is based on grounded theory and semi-structured interviews to answer the three research areas.

The KPMG / ESCP Europe 2014 Chair "Governance, Strategy, Risks and Performance" also award a special prize to Anaïs Masse and Marie-Gabrielle Figeac for their paper entitled "Influence between team performance and individual performance within a company: Publicis" led by Professor Catherine Maillet.

Abstract of Anaïs Masse and Marie-Gabrielle Figeac paper:
In the context of globalization and digitalization of businesses, growing competition triggers questions about firm performance. In the creative industries, which revolve around both individual talents and teamwork, what are the influential mechanisms between individual performances and firm performance? With interviews and surveys conducted with ten employees of the French advertising agency BETC, the various levels of performances appear that need to be aligned to foster firm competitiveness

Both awards will be formally given at the graduation ceremony Dec. 5, 2014 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.

Congratulations to the winners and their tutors and thanks to all those who participated in the organization set up by the KPMG / ESCP Europe Chair.

Professor Frédéric Fréry
Scientific Director of the Chair ESCP Europe/KPMG
