Economy 21st: 'What is it really like to be a CEO?'

Lawrie Philpott, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Philpott Black, presents:
'What is it really like to be a CEO?'

Date: 31st October 2012
Time: 19:00 - 21:00
Location: G74, ESCP Europe London campus

You may still be far away from CEO status, but who hasn’t dreamt about reaching the top position in a company? What does it take to reach the executive chair and what sets CEOs apart from other people? Lawrie Philpott will discuss which vital traits and mindsets are needed to be a great leader, what barriers must be overcome on the rise to the top, and what to expect as a corporate chief.

Top executives often have no true peers within a business to whom they can turn for advice on the personal and professional challenges that come with an executive position. Coaching has become a widespread tool in the executive world and Lawrie Philpott will explain how this one-to-one partnership can help to boost one’s career and overcome obstacles.

Lawrie Philpott, former head of Coopers & Lybrand’s UK Human Resource Advisory Group, is a human resource, change management and organisation consultant with over 25 years of experience both in the UK and internationally. He specialises in top team effectiveness and leadership coaching in the private and public sectors. Lawrie has a very impressive track record and has worked with a number of well-known companies from various industries, including British Airways, British Telecom, Nokia, Royal Mail and Ulster Bank. Lawrie Philpott has worked with a number of individuals and groups at senior executive level to promote individual and team performance. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy an inspirational and authentic talk by our experienced guest speaker.

The lecture will be followed by a formal question and answer session, allowing for a lively discussion of the theories presented, and after this a more informal opportunity to mingle over refreshments.

Economy 21st is a series of lectures providing a high-profile platform for industry leaders and influential thinkers in the world of business. As diverse as our School, Economy 21st covers topics from the fields of Marketing, HR, Finance, Energy and Sustainability.
