ESCP Europe Business School joins the Global Board Ready Women Forum

ESCP Europe is proud to become the latest business school member of the Global Board Ready Women (GBRW) forum, offering visibility in the recruitment marketplace for Board-level positions to highly-qualified women from its community. These will include ESCP Europe's own directors and professors, as well as women from its 40,000-strong alumni network.

The GBRW forum was created by the European Commission, and is administered by the Financial Times Non-Executive Directors' Club working on the global online business platform, LinkedIn.  All members are qualified to work in board-level positions in publicly-listed companies, meeting a clear set of criteria defined by the European Business Schools' Women on Board initiative. The ever-growing list will be available online for corporations and executive search companies to consult.

The numbers are clear: recent research published in the Financial Times states that companies with 35% representation of women on their Boards have outperformed less diverse ones during the financial crisis. Over 2,000 women are already listed in the GBRW group on Linkedin, with this number set to grow to 8,000.

It is clear that there are more than enough eminently qualified women to help lead both European and global corporations into the 21st century; it is now time to shatter the glass ceiling that keeps these women from ascending to board-level positions.

"I often hear the argument that there are not enough qualified women to occupy positions in the boardroom. Today, European business schools and their colleagues around the world are shattering those myths as well as glass ceilings! The list shows that the qualified women are there – 8,000 of them. Companies should now make use of this untapped pool of talent." Viviane Reding EU Vice-President and Justice Commissioner
