ESCP Europe's Master in European Business (MEB) sets out to conquer China

Building on its successful partnerships in India and Thailand, ESCP Europe's Master in European Business (MEB) programme is strengthening its presence in Asia with a new partnership agreement in China.

It has chosen one of China's most selective institutions: the Xiamen University School of Management (SMXU), located close to Taiwan. This prestigious university offers MEB students the opportunity to travel to China for the first semester of their studies, which, in 2013, begins on 22nd July.

For many years, ESCP Europe's MEB programme - notable for its MBA-style curriculum and cross-cultural Europe/World approach - has had an international development policy focused on regions undergoing strong economic growth, such as Asia. The MEB has existing partnership agreements with two of the most prestigious universities in the region: AIT Bangkok (Thailand) and MDI Gurgaon (India).

ESCP Europe has confirmed its international development strategy from its European base by signing this academic agreement with the Xiamen University School of Management, its 5th such agreement worldwide for the MEB and the 3rd in Asia. This strategy addresses two challenges:

  • To offer students, whatever their nationality or career path, intensive international and European training in management for one year and in two countries.

  • To identify multi-skilled, multicultural and motivated international students who are able to speak several languages to companies around the globe.

On Friday, 22nd March 2013, ESCP Europe and SMXU officially signed the partnership agreement. This now allows students on the MEB programme to go to China for their first semester and to one of five ESCP Europe campuses for their second semester. With this new agreement in China, the MEB strengthens its aim of being a European gateway to the world.

School of Management, Xiamen University (SMXU):

Xiamen University is considered  one of the most selective universities in China. It was founded in 1921 by Mr. Tan Kah Kee, the "Henry Ford of Asia", in his beautiful hometown of Xiamen, a strategic location in relation to Taiwan. As the only national key university located in a special economic zone of China, SMXU has been at the forefront of the nation's economic reform.

In 2003, SMXU was ranked 3rd in the National Business Administration Discipline Evaluation. In 2004, the Institute for Finance and Accounting Studies was designated by the Ministry of Education as a PhaseⅡ985 key project, an innovation base in philosophy, humanities and social science studies. In 2007, Business Administration of Xiamen University was awarded one of the first five 'Level 1 National Key Disciplines'. With the largest number of accounting and finance professors in China and a key player in the set up the National Institute of Accounting in Xiamen, SMXU's School of Management is known as the "Cradle for CFOs in China".

SMXU has approximately 6,000 on-campus students and 201 faculty members. For more information, please visit: http://sm2.xmu.edu.cn/en/default.asp

The Master in European Business:
Created in 1995, the ESCP Europe Master in European Business (MEB) is an intensive general management programme taught over one year across two countries of your choice.

Based on an MBA-style curriculum with a cross-cultural approach, the MEB is a life-changing programme aimed at young professionals and graduates of different nationalities and backgrounds who wish to acquire double managerial competencies to boost their international career. Participants choose to study at one or two of the five ESCP Europe campuses (Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid and Torino), or at one ESCP Europe campus and one of five academic partners: AIT Bangkok (Thailand), HSE Moscow (Russia); MDI Gurgaon (India), Tec de Monterrey (Mexico), and Xiamen University School of Management (China).

The MEB Class of 2013 has 216 participants representing 30 nationalities and an average age of 25. Students have at least two years of professional experience. The current class was selected from more than 900 applicants. After being awarded a MEB, 46% of graduates work outside their country of origin and 78% work internationally.
