Ghislain Deslandes, HDR in Business Administration, Ph. D. in philosophy, is Full Professor and Academic Director of the Specialized Master programe in Media Management.
Ghislain started his career in the press, with Les Echos, before his nomination as chief editor of Diginews, a publisher of CD-Roms and digital news media. He then was Associate Director of Coplanet (a Web Agency within the Fi System Group) during more than four years. Lastly, he became Chief Internet Editor for EMAP (now Mondadori France) and then CEO of Worldex Media from 2003 to 2007 before opting for academia.
He is currently an Editorial Board member of Business and Professional Ethics Journal (BPEJ), of Journal of Management and Sustainability (JMS), of International Journal on Media Management (JMM) and of Journal of Media Business Studies (JOMBS). He is also a board member of the Societé des Amis de Port-Royal, and an active member of the European Media Management Association (EMMA) and of EBEN (European Business Ethics Network).
In management studies, he graduated from the MS Media Management at ESCP Business School and from the Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (EDBA) at Paris Dauphine University. He also participated to the ITP (International Business Program) at Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University) and he did his Habilitation in Business Administration (HDR, French post-doctoral qualification for Ph.D. Supervisor) at Paris Dauphine University. His Dissertation was entitled: "Nosce te ipsum : Identité, Ethique et Management".
His research concern not only management and leadership in the communication industries, but also the philosophical theories of management. He has published Le Management des Médias (La Découverte, 2008), Le Management Ethique (Editions Dunod, 2012), Essai sur les données philosophiques du management (PUF, 2013)/FNEGE-EFMD best essay in management, Critique de la Condition Managériale (PUF, 2016) and he will publish next October A propos du management et d'un problème plus général (PUF, 2020). His works have also been published in different academic journals like European Management Journal, European Management Review, Journal of Media Business Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, Leadership, Organization, Organization Studies and Philosophy of Management.
In philosophy, he earned a Master's degree under the supervision of Hélène Védrine and presented his dissertation, "Ante-prolegomena to any post-humanism", to a jury chaired by Jean-Toussaint Desanti. Then he defended his PhD thesis at Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University under the supervision of Bernard Bourgeois, essentially dedicated to a comparative study of the philosophies of Blaise Pascal and Sören Kierkegaard. The Jury was chaired by Pierre Magnard. In this field, he has published two recent essays, Antiphilosophie du christianisme (Ovadia, 2008) and Court traité sur la recherche d'une première vérité (Ovadia, 2020). From 2013 to 2019 he was also an elected Program Director at the Collège International de Philosophie (Ciph).
