Appointment Alberta Di Giuli appointed to the ECGI network

The Professor of finance was selected to become a research member of the European Corporate Governance Institute - one of only 15 in France.

European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) announced the appointment of 56 new research members to its distinguished ranks. ECGI is an international scientific non-profit association providing a forum for debate and dialogue between academics, legislators and practitioners, focusing on major corporate governance issues and promoting best practice.

The ECGI's primary role is to undertake, commission and disseminate research on corporate governance. Its academic members come from the Economic, Finance and Law departments of prestigious institutions all over the world (e.g. Chicago, Harvard, Yale, etc.).

In limited but fine company

The new research members were admitted on the quality of their academic work in the field of corporate governance. To be selected as a research member, one has to publish in top scientific journals AND have enough citations and visibility. As stated on its website, “at the core of ECGI are the research members who are appointed on the basis of their significant contribution to the field of corporate governance study and are selected on the basis of strict criteria by a designated committee.”

“We are thrilled that Prof. Alberta Di Giuli has been chosen to become a member of the European Corporate Governance Institute,” commented ESCP Business School Executive Vice-President Leon Laulusa. “Alberta is now the youngest member of the 15 renowned research members in France. ESCP wishes her all the best in this next challenge !”

The new research members will be eligible to publish their academic work on corporate governance and stewardship in the ECGI Working Paper Series, to which Alberta Di Giuli made a contribution on Climate Change and Mutual Fund Voting on Environmental Proposals in 2022. The series is known for its reliable content, global outlook, and interdisciplinary nature.

A unique platform where global scholars from mixed disciplines can publish their work and interact with each other and with experienced practitioners to identify and study the challenges faced by corporations, investors and society.

The membership structure of ECGI includes both institutions and individuals on a subscription basis, however only research members are entitled to distribute their work to ECGI’s network. A further tier is the honorific title of Fellow. Fellows are elected by the existing Fellows, and previously elected Fellows include Nobel Laureates Jean Tirole, Oliver Hart, Bengt Holmström, and Douglas Diamond.

“ECGI is a unique platform where global scholars from mixed disciplines can publish their work and interact with each other and with experienced practitioners to identify and study the challenges faced by corporations, investors and society,” commented Professor Ernst Maug, who chairs the committee responsible for the selection of new members. “The latest appointments will contribute to this global dialogue by capturing even more of the research being conducted in this field around the world, while maintaining the high standards that are synonymous with ECGI.”
