Dean Frank Bournois, Professors Ben Voyer and Gérard Naulleau as well as ESCP students took part in the certified international training programme launched in April at UNESCO.

On April 18th & 19th, almost 600 international decision-makers and experts on Smart Cities attended a two-day master class at UNESCO in Paris as part of the Netexplo Smart Cities Accelerator programme, which comes under the French Mobility label created by the Ministry of Transport.
Netexplo, an independent observatory that studies the impact of digital tech on society and business, started collaborating with ESCP last year (Digital Transformation Facilitator certificate) and has been a UNESCO partner since 2010. In response to the challenges raised by Smart Cities and Territories, and according to its core mission, UNESCO is supporting the Smart Cities Accelerator effort to provide city decision-makers with a global vision and knowledge on best practices in Smart Cities development.

Distinguished international guests gave their vision of smart cities and training sessions based on the learnings of Netexplo’s Smart City observatory were held simultaneously in three languages (English, French and Mandarin) by eminent lecturers and researchers from the event’s prestigious partner schools: ESCP, Télécom ParisTech, Peking University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
The programme’s academic team includes Advanced Master in International Project Management Director Gérard Naulleau and Professor of Entrepreneurship Ben Voyer, who talked about smart city funding and attractivity, respectively.
Two students from a six-member team of the London Campus (Lennart Lopez Hänninen and Elliott Leclerc) also presented Gen Z’s vision of the ideal city based on their research work. Watch the videos below to learn more.
ESCP Dean and Executive President Frank Bournois took part in the closing panel discussion with the other academic partners’ deans and UNESCO’s Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information (Moez Chakchouk) .

The school’s Professors also contributed to the online module operated by ESCP that rounds off the two days’ on-site training and will enable all participants (not just those present at UNESCO) to obtain a Smart Cities Management certificate issued jointly by the four partner schools and universities.
