Partnership between Bain and ESCP Europe

Digital corporate strategies: new Master's programme for students

The international management consulting firm Bain & Company is a strategic partner for the recently established Master's programme in “Strategy and Digital Business” at the ESCP Europe Business School in Berlin. Philip Meissner, Chair of Strategic Management and Decision Making, serves as academic director for this officially State-recognised Master's course. Bain supports the programme by offering its expertise in digitalisation and strategy, which results in an ideal combination of teaching and practical experience.

The Master's course starts in September 2018 and is aimed at graduates with a Bachelor's degree in economics, social sciences and natural sciences, who are looking to engage intensively in the world of digital corporate strategies. With the module on “Managing Emerging Technologies”, for example, and by actively leading a consulting project, the Bain consultants will be passing on their knowledge to the students.

”Students on this Master's programme will be working on a selection of digitalisation projects, thereby experiencing first-hand the daily routine of a leading global management consultant firm“, explained Dominik Thielmann, a partner in the Bain Group and responsible for recruitment in German-speaking countries. ”The international focus of ESCP Europe complements our global presence and client structure perfectly.“

Alongside the course modules, students will have the opportunity to learn about the European Digital Discovery Hub, set up recently by Bain in Berlin. It combines the consulting skills of Bain with the extensive digital expertise of the company.

Professor Andreas Kaplan, Rector of ESCP Europe Berlin, states: ”This Master’s programme is intended to pave the way for young and talented students to begin a global career in strategic development and to gain the knowledge required to master the increasingly digitalised workplace of the future.“ He added: ”We are delighted to have gained Bain & Company as a renowned partner for this cooperation, thereby offering our students more improved practical content.“

Applications welcome until early August 2018

Prospective students can apply for a place on this Master's programme until 1 August 2018. Besides a Bachelor’s degree in either economics, social sciences or natural sciences and having gained at least 180 ECTS, applicants are expected to be fluent in English. The Master's programme takes six trimesters, and students must also undergo a compulsory three-month internship and complete their Master's thesis during the final two trimesters. Other modules include a mandatory language course in Mandarin Chinese and seminars on subjects such as “Doing Business with China” as well as a hackathon.
