Each year, students from ESCP Business School attend the National Model United Nations (NMUN) Conference in New York, NY.

In 2018, 50 participants of the Master in ManagementBachelor in Management (BSc)MSc in International Sustainability Management and MSc in International Sales Management travelled to the United States to represent the Berlin, London and Paris campuses after six months of intense training within the Call ON’U and United student societies.

The event took place from 18th to 22nd March, and included an inspiring Opening Ceremony in the General Assembly hall at the United Nations headquarters.

More than 5,000 students from universities and business school attend the NMUN each year. ESCP participation at this global event is entirely student-led, with the on-campus societies recruiting, training and selecting their final delegations each year.

The YEStoUN event is a key aspect of this process, taking place at the ESCP London Campus in February. This three-day event gathered students from all three participating ESCP campuses, as well as those attending the NMUN from from fellow top-ranked business schools HEC, ESSEC, and NEOMA. Two days of intense simulation committee meetings were preceded by an Opening Conference, welcoming guest panellists Patrick Chevallereau (Defense Attaché, the French Embassy in London), Denis Macshane (former Labour Party Member of Parliament for Rotherham from 1994 to 2012, and Minister of State for Europe in the Labour Government from 2002 to 2005), and Vicky Pryce (Economist and former Joint Head of the United Kingdom's Government Economic Service).

The three ESCP teams who attended the NMUN in New York represented Honduras (Berlin delegation), Italy (London delegation) and Argentina (Paris delegation). With students divided between mock committees that mimic the real structure of the United Nations, global issues such as chemical weapons, climate migration and access to education were debated with the hope of resolutions being passed and progress made.

After several days of intense work, the ESCP Berlin and London teams were presented the Honorable Mention Delegation Award, recognising their preparation, dedication and professionalism at the event.

“We are extremely proud of our smart students' global impact. It’s a great example of the relevance of our unique European multi-campus structure,” said Dimitri Champollion, Director of Brand and Communications at ESCP.

“We love this project and competition and it speaks to our values and commitment to holistic learning,” said Prof. Simon Mercado, Director of ESCP’s London campus. “Our students have performed at the highest level, and we congratulate them for their initiative and achievements.”
