After studying law, history and political science at the universities of Freiburg, Cologne, Bonn and London (LSE), passed First State Examination in Law in 1986. Second State Examination in Law in 1989. Defended doctoral thesis in Constitutional Law and History in 1993. Publications Various publications in scientific books, journals and frequent writer in European and U.S. daylies (Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, New York Times, “Der Spiegel” (online),“The National Interest”, interviews and contributions in German National Radio, NPR, BBC, Radio Free Europe and other European Radio Stations.
